COMPONENT ACCEPTANCE SERVICE NO. 21

To: Manufacturers of Motorized Electrical Subassemblies for Use in Furniture, Manufacturers of Motorized Hygiene and Cosmetic Appliances

Subject: Component Acceptance Service for Motorized Electrical Subassemblies

for Use in Furnitures and Motorized Hygiene and Cosmetic Appliances

CSA is pleased to announce the introduction of a Component Acceptance Service for electrical components for use in furniture and motorized hygiene and cosmetic appliances.

Purpose

The new CSA Component Acceptance Service was initiated at the request of manufacturers of motorized chairs, beds and tables. The new CSA service will provide these end product manufacturers with a complete reference of CSA Accepted Components for their equipment and facilitate the selection of the appropriate CSA Accepted Components. The new service will also provide manufacturers of the components with an effective means of marketing their products.

Since products listed under the new CSA Component Acceptance Service have been evaluated to common product requirements, manufacturers of end products who incorporate CSA Accepted Components in the equipment will benefit from the reduced amount of testing at the prototype stage. This will result in a shorter time and at a reduced cost for CSA Certification of the equipment.

Further details on the new CSA service are outlined in the attached information package.

Direction

Manufacturers who wish to obtain CSA Acceptance of motorized subassemblies for use in furniture and motorized hygiene and cosmetic appliances may make an application at any time. Applications should include the full company name, address, location of each factory and a reference CSA file number, if one is assigned. Upon receipt of the application, customers will be advised of the quantity and types of samples required for evaluation.
