Dickson is one of three Sooners to start all 14 matches this season, logging 1,137 minutes of play as a midfielder. SOONER NOTEBOOK: FIVE NOTES FOR WEEK NINE 1. STAYIN’ ALIVE

The Oklahoma soccer team will hit the road this weekend for a pair of matches at TCU (Oct. 18) and at Texas (Oct. 20). The Sooners currently hold a mark of 0-4 in Big 12 play and will look for at least one conference victory to keep their Big 12 Championship hopes alive. OU enters this weekend at ninth overall in the conference standings; the top eight teams in the Big 12 advance to the conference tournament following regular season play.

2. BREAK THE STREAK

After losses at the hands of Texas Tech (2-1) and Iowa State (4-1) last weekend, the Sooners will aim to snap a four-match losing streak this weekend. Three of OU’s last four losses have been one-goal decisions, and two of those (vs. Oklahoma State, vs. Texas Tech) came on goals in the final 10 or fewer minutes of play.

3. ON THE HORIZON: BIG 12 TOURNAMENT

The 2013 Big 12 Soccer Championship will take place Nov. 6, 8 and 10 in Kansas City, Mo., at Swope Soccer Village. The top eight teams in the conference advance to tournament play in hopes of claiming the conference postseason title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship. The championship match will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1. Fans wishing to purchase tickets to the event may do so through Sporting KC and Ticketmaster at SportingKC.

4. CHASING 100

With Oklahoma’s victories over Texas State, Kennesaw State and Oral Roberts this season, head coach Matt Potter currently holds 98 career victories spanning two schools and 11 seasons. Potter accumulated 88 victories at his previous stop at Washington State before arriving in Norman prior to the 2012 season. He led the Sooners to a 7-9-4 record in his first season at Oklahoma in 2012.

5. FOLLOW LIVE

This weekend’s match against Texas marks the 11th game this season that fans have been able to follow live either through a live television broadcast or a live online video stream. The OU/Texas match-up is slated for a live broadcast on the Longhorn Network, with Alex Loeb handling play-by-play duties and Monica Gonzalez providing color commentary.

Now in his second season at the helm of the Oklahoma soccer program, head coach Matt Potter has already begun to see his vision for the team take shape. A proven leader and builder of successful programs, Potter arrived at OU in December 2011 with the goal of positioning the Sooners as one of the nation’s elite soccer teams.

Potter led Oklahoma to a 7-9-4 record in his first season as head coach, the most by a rookie head coach in Sooner history. Potter’s squad also qualified to the program’s third consecutive Big 12 tournament, another first for the program. Senior Renae Cuellar was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, the first Sooner in program history to earn the title. Cuellar was also named to the NCAA Division I All- Central Region first team by the National Soccer Coaches’

Association of America (NSCAA) and captured first All-Big 12 and Big 12 All-Newcomer team honors.

Who’s New?

With 15 newcomers hitting the field this season for the Sooners, fans can expect to see plenty of new faces on the pitch throughout the fall. The OU coaching staff signed 14 prospects to their signing class in February before adding one additional transfer in the spring.

In-state products joining OU this season are Shiloh Price (Broken Arrow, Okla.), Madison Saliba (Broken Arrow, Okla.) and Lisa Robinson (Oklahoma City, Okla.).

The Sooners also added four Arizona high school standouts in Jemma Cota (Mesa, Ariz.), Jamie Iurato (Mesa, Ariz.), Madison Kinzer (Oro Valley, Ariz.) and Rachel Ressler (Phoenix, Ariz.). Four athletes from the Texas soccer ranks chose OU as well: Courtney Forte (Flower Mound, Texas), Paige Jacobs (Coppell, Texas), Miranda Larkin (Rockwall, Texas) and Purdue transfer Katie Sheinfeld (Dallas, Texas).

Rounding out the OU roster will be Daisy Cardona (Ventura, Calif.), Kaitlyn Fahrner (Las Vegas, Nev.), Caren Nelson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Elise Romano (Basking Ridge, N.J.).

Up Next

Oklahoma will close its regular-season conference slate over the next two weeks of play, beginning with its final home match of the season on Friday, Oct. 25.
