Situation

An emergency incident occurred where

a student at a special school attacked

a teacher. Both the teacher and the

student were injured – the teacher was

hospitalised and the student required

medical attention.

Different legal requirements, policies

and processes apply to different

incidents, depending on the severity of

the incident and the parties involved. In

response to this incident, the school’s

principal needed to report this incident

four separate times,

After calling 000 to access the

appropriate emergency services the

principal has to complete the following

actions.

Example Scenario

• Principal logs it in EduSafe Plus or calls SSU to log

emergency incident into eduSafe Plus.

• A record is created for the incident and impacted

student and teacher are linked to the incident.

• Support services are made aware of the incident

through a series of notifications (emails)

• A record is created for any compensation claim

relating to the incident.
