PREREQUISITES RELATING TO KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER COMPETENCIES none

COURSE OBJECTIVES

C1 - To introduce students to problems of the environmental resource management within the limits of cities, on commuter belts and postindustrial areas.

[theoretical knowledge about the problems arising from the current model of civilization development and occurring in urban areas (demographics, consumption of natural resources, pollution, climate, environmental quality); their impact on the human living space; and the advantages and disadvantages of the solutions proposed in the model of sustainable development;

knowledge of conditions affecting the consumption of natural resources in urban areas: energy, water, raw materials, land, and conditions affecting the quality of living nature.]

C2 – to develop the ability to characterize urbanised areas using indicators of sustainable development. [the ability to collect, process and analyze data that serve as a basis for calculating the environmental performance of investments, indicators of sustainable development and urban design standards, and the ability to indicate the relationship between the value of these indicators and the quality of human life in the urban environment]

C3 – To prepare students to develop and present development strategy of an area and its implementation in the records of the land use plan, consistent with the conclusions of the analysis and the objectives of overarching documents taking into account the sustainable development.

[ability: - to use source documents, - to maintain and create (text and graphical record) analyses, - to indicate objectives and tasks according to conclusions from analyses, - to create design studies and provisions in planning documents, which are characterized by professional technical level and a comprehensible graphical notation.]

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES Related to knowledge:

PEK_W01 Demonstrate general knowledge of methodology for the creation and use of parameters and indicators of sustainable development of urbanized areas.

PEK_W02 Understand the relationships and dependencies between planning provisions and their implementation in practice and the reflection in indicators of sustainable development of urban areas.

Related to skills:

PEK_U01 Analyze the existing condition of the given urbanized area by describing resources, and their evaluation and identifying the problem areas. Indicate possible solutions leading to consolidation of natural, social, economic and spatial order in the studied area by means of planning provisions.

PEK_U02 Demonstrate the ability to formulate on the basis of analyses, the strategies for sustainable development of the area and detailed planning provisions.

Related to social competencies:

PEK_K01 Demonstrate the ability to create and present the results of project work (text, graphics, multimedia presentation).

PEK_K02 – Demonstrate the ability to work in a project team comprising a few people.
