1 What did you like doing when you were a child? 2 What didn’t you like doing? Why?

3 What are your favourite hobbies now? 4 How much time do you spend doing them? 5 What are you doing now? Are you enjoying it? Jake Marsh won a TV talent show when he was

thirteen years old. He wrote and sang a song and the judges loved it. He beat ten other children who were all older than him. During the series he became famous and everyone recognized his face when they saw him in newspapers or on TV. After the series finished, he and the other participants did a tour of the UK. Jake signed a contract with a record company and released his first album a few months later. The new series of the talent show started at the same time and the viewers were more interested in the new participants than in Jake. His album wasn’t successful and soon everyone forgot about him. But Jake is a special boy – and not just because he has a special voice. He decided to use his

experience to help others. Today he is sixteen and he works as a volunteer for a charity. He works with younger children. These children all have problems because at some point in their lives something bad happened to them. Jake helps them understand that life isn’t always as you plan it, but that it can always be exciting and fun. At the moment he’s working with Phoebe and they’re becoming good friends. Phoebe didn’t speak for two years and now she phones and texts Jake every day.
