Chapter 2: Printinga ... 3. Stopping a Job
3. Stopping a Job
When you force the printer to stop a print job while the job is sending from the computer, be sure to send a stop command from the com-puter, in addition to making a stop action on the printer's side.
❏ Suspending a Job
To suspend a printing job temporarily (for example, when you want to check the output), press the ON LINE key on the operation panel. The printer will finish the particular paper it is printing, eject it, and pause. To restart printing, press the ON LINE key again.
Once suspended, the printer stays in the OFF LINE state and needs no further instructions from the com-puter. However, if it is suspended too long while large amounts of print data are being transmitted from the computer, delay in the process may bring a Timeout Error message onto the computer's screen. If that happens, select Retry.
The halted jobs can be completely canceled by taking the steps described in the following Canceling a Job Completely section.
❏ Canceling a Job Completely
In order to cancel a job completely, first execute a cancel command on the computer's side.
From the Start menu, select Settings, and then click Printers. In the Printers folder, double-click CANON P-660C PRINTER.
All the documents on the waiting list are displayed in the window. Select the document or documents you wish to cancel, then open the File menu and click Cancel Printing.
The computer will abort its printing process. The DATA lamp of the printer will remain lit. Press the STOP/RESET key for at least three seconds to clear all the received data from the waiting list.
● If you want to quit the job immediately, first press the STOP/RESET key before carry-ing out the above steps.
● Sometimes when the printer is used in a network environment, you may be unable to cancel the job from your computer. In such a situation consult your network adminis-trator and check that a proper privilege has been allocated to your computer on the network.
Do not touch the main power switch in order to cut the power off when printing a job.
The BJ Linehead protection will fail to work properly, and it may result in breakdown.
Before cutting the power off, under normal conditions, first press the POWER key on the operation panel and then, when the printer is safely back into the powe saving mode, turn off the main power switch.
