Taylor the Turtle is a sexual abuse prevention
program that does not talk about abuse, sex, or the anatomy but rather focuses
on human rights language and emotional literacy. It also steers clear of frightening scenarios like
good touch/bad touch and stranger danger.

It sounds almost too good to be true, but by regularly reading with your children in their early years you are giving them the biggest boost toward a successful education they will ever get.
Kids Can Fly has partnered with this wonderful program to help children benefit from books in Brantford and Brant County.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library will help you read with your child. Every month a new, carefully selected, age appropriate book will be mailed in your child’s name directly to your home. He or she can look forward to new and exciting reading adventures from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library until they turn five years old. Over 750,000 books are mailed out EVERY month throughout the world. The Dollywood Foundation administers the database, selects and mails the books. The partnering organizations, such as Kids Can Fly, fundraises for the cost of the books and postage. The book costs are low due to bulk purchasing, the books that would cost $15-$20 in a store, may cost as low as $2.50.
Currently, there are 860 children in Brantford/Brant registered in the program with
a waiting list over 130 children. Kids Can Fly is always fundraising to get all 5600
children under 5 to receive books.
You can help by sponsoring a special child in your life or contributing to register a child. If you sign up for the Monthly Giving Club and donate $5.00/month, you can designate a child to receive the Imagination Library books EVERY month.
It is VERY easy, go to

The babies born in Brantford and Brant County will be able to be registered into the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library under a new initiative, Books From Birth for one year. To kick start the program S.C. Johnson announces a two-year commitment of $60,000. "As a family company, at SC Johnson we have always believed that along with providing great products that make life better for families, we should have a positive impact in our communities. Wherever we operate, we aim to help make that place better, because we are there. Since 1917, we have been proud corporate citizens of Brantford and we are committed
to help make life better for children and families." stated Ana Dominguez,
Executive Director and General Manager, SC Johnson Canada. "A creative program like Books from Birth through the Imagination Library which builds literacy skills right from the start is a positive example of how young children can realize their full potential. On behalf of SC Johnson Canada, I offer sincere congratulations to Kids Can Fly for delivering this essential program to Brantford families".
All Brantford and Brant County parents of babies born in 2014 will be able to go to the Kids Can Fly website and register their baby. There will also be the option
to mail in the registration.
The Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Books From Birth program has also received grants from the Brant Community Foundation, Stedman Foundation, Hankinson Foundation, performer Lesia Way, and a number of other private donations.
