It is manually operated unlike the CNC machine which is controlled by a coding systems that enables it to be operated with minimal supervision. There are many parts and components of SCANTOOL DrillingMachine include a fixture that is focusing for this project. (Scantool- Group.dk.2016). Figure 1.1 shows the SCANTOOL DrillingMachine that was installed in Fabricating Workshop at Block B of Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering, UTeM (FKP).

The vertical column is made in such a way that it can rotate in circular direction. The arm gives angular up and down motion and the final are gives directional stability and it holds the motor and further assembly to perform work.
Micro-drilling processes have been widely used to produce micro holes such as micro dies and molds, fuel injection nozzles, watches, bearings and printed circuit boards etc. And it has more attention in a wide spectrum of precision production industries. Experiments are conducted to investigate the effectiveness of drilling processes by measuring the hole quality after micro- machining. Two aspects, location error and oversize of the hole, of drilling quality are measured. Depending on the type of drills and drilling processes, it may occur that the drill walks on the surface of the work piece before entering the part. Whirling of the drill edge at the time of penetration into the work piece degrades hole quality as well. In order to avoid whirling of drill bit on the surface of work piece, we require the high R.P.M machine. This high R.P.M will lead to drill hole easily in a sheet of nearly 4mm. in order to attain high R.P.M generally two systems are used and they are pulley system or gear ratio system. But here also required R.P.M are not obtained so we can use embedded systems for getting desired R.P.M. In this machine the arm acts similar to a robotic arm but in a manual way. There is a cross slide which gives the linear movement to the drillingmachine which takes care of the depth of the hole required and a stroke length of 125mm can be achieved using the slide. Since the machine is manually set, the accuracy of the hole or point at which the hole can be drilled depends on the accuracy with which the machinist sets the end drill bit to the point. Once the drill bit is made to touch the pointer-marked on the work piece, then the machine is to be started, set to the required speed and the depth is given using the slide, which gives a linear motion to the drillingmachine. The flexibility achieved using this machine is an added advantage to the machine. With multiple axes available we aim to achieve drilling at any position known to us or required in the given design. The measuring and accuracy in order to maintain perpendicularity of the drill is obtained using angular measuring instruments like spirit levels, protractors etc. The linear measurements are done using linear scales.
In conclusion, the automated drillingmachine was successfully designed and implemented based on PLC control system. The prototype is done to drill a small hole in wood work-piece about (8mm) in depth, and perform drilling for 3 objects per minute, in order to increase the efficiency of small drilling machines instead human work. From the results of drilling performance testes, the system was apple to drill small holes and all the objectives were done successfully as proposed.

This papers deals with design and performance analysis of foot operated drillingmachine. The motor analysis is performed on aluminium and mild steel material under no load and full load condition. The value of torque is finalised based on no load and full load conditions for aluminium and mild steel material. The graph is drawn between the torque and speed for aluminium and mild steel material to judge the material characteristics under no load and full load conditions.
Abstract:-This project entitles “Tool Indexing multi Chuck DrillingMachine” to develop the drillingmachine by adding the features of as fixing four tools in the chuck for frequent machining. In this project we design multi chuck drillingmachine with indexing to reduce time conception for drilling various size holes in work piece. In a single machine multiple drilling operations can be carried out. By this we tried to fulfill the industrial requirements.
The aim of the project was to retrofit and automate a Milling and DrillingMachine using PLC. During the preliminary phase of project, the machine was found to be operated manually. The main objective set for the project was to design, develop and implement an automated controller for the machine in order to upgrade the technology. The major steps in achieving this objective are as follows.

Our project even is rotated to easily drill at any direction. So that job setting operation is not complicated as well as reduces the setting time for the operation. It also takes into consideration the most effective method of controlling the drillingmachine by manually. Materials like wood, plastic and light metals can be drilled with this. The work piece is fixed on the work table, which is provided with a moving arrangement. The drillingmachine is one of the most important machine tools in a workshop. In a drillingmachine holes may be drilled quickly and at a low cost. The hole is generated by the rotating edge of a cutting tool known as the drill, which exerts large force on the work clamped on the table. As the machine tool exerts vertical pressure to original a hole it loosely called a “drill press”. Drilling is the operation of producing circular hole in the work-piece by using a rotating cutter called drill, the most common type of drill is the twist drill. The machine tool used for drilling is called drillingmachine. The drilling operation can also be accomplished in a lathe, in which the drill is held in the tailstock and the work is held and rotated by a chuck. This angular drilling is performed for Different Angle Drilling in the working job. Indexing Plate and Up/down mechanism is available in this Angular DrillingMachine.
Over the past decades, manufacturing has made considerable progress. Different new machine tools, High- performance cutting tools and modern manufacturing processes are used in today's modern industries to make parts faster and better than ever before. Mass production has a demand of fast and easy method of positioning work for accurate operations on it. Jigs are production tools used to manufacture duplicate and interchangeable parts. Jigs are specially designed so that the large numbers of components can be machined identically, and to ensure interchangeability of components. The most common jigs are for drilling and boring operation and they differ as per size, type, and placement of drill bushes. Drilling jigs are used to machine holes in mechanical products. To obtain positional accuracy of the holes, hardened drill bushes or jig bushes are used to locate and guide the drill, reamers etc., in relation to the work piece. These guide bushes are not essen- tial but these prove to be economical and technically desirable as will be discussed ahead. The portion of the jig into which the hardened bushes are fitted is called bushes. Drilling jigs are ei- ther clamped to the work piece in which holes are to drill on the work piece is housed and clamped in the jig body. If more than one hole is to be drilled, the drill jig made to slide on the table of the drillingmachine. Such a drill jig is moved by hand into the position under the drill so that the drill readily enters the bush. During the drilling operation, the jig is held by hand.
Different models are considered for drillingmachine. Each was having some advantages and relative disadvantages. Our aim was to develop a steady and low vibrations drillingmachine so as to produce accurate holes with minimum of vibrations so that the hole quality should fulfill the requirements.
I n this project, we have made the jig of drillingmachine of different material rather than mild steel to reduce the weight and to ease the work handling. By manufacturing of these jigs we can reduce the setup time of raw material on machine. The weight of jig comes out to be 3.5 kg after manufacturing that is less compare to mild steel jig plate which was 25 kg.
design & develop one special purpose-drillingmachine, which can be used to drill the job with different depths programmed independently. These kinds of drill machines are very much required in the mechanical workshops, where it is essential for specific job applications. The machine is designed with a drilling motor, and the motor functions independently. Drilling depth of the motor can be programmed through the keyboard. The drilling motor is moved in vertical direction through power feed technology designed with stepper motor. The stepper motor used to move the drilling motor up & down directions is aimed to pull down the drill motor while drilling the hole over the job. Here some force is applied such that the machine can be able to drill the hole over light metal jobs. Since the project work is considered as prototype module, the stepper motor used here can apply a little force. To drill over heavy metals like MS, high power motor with suitable gear mechanism is essential.
This study was conducted for the purpose of developing a linear positioning table for the drillingmachine. The table could be moved linearly, which meant in X-axis and Y-axis direction, so that the drilling operation could be performed in one single clamping. In addition, clamping device was also provided to provide rigidity and strength during the drilling operation. This project also took into account of safety measures. This is because the current method to do drilling operation is used without any clamping device. The operator needs to hold the workpiece by himself whereby this can be considered dangerous.
Drilling is a continuous machining process. Drilling is a cutting process that uses a drill bit to cut a hole of circular cross-section in solid materials. This forces the cutting edge against the work piece, cutting off chips (swarf) from the hole as it is drilled. Various cutting tools are available for drilling, but the most common is the twist drill. Wide varieties of drill processes are available to serve different purposes such as drilling, reaming, boring, counter boring, counter sinking, spot facing, trepanning and under cutting. The objective of this project is to optimize and analyze the linear positioning table for drillingmachine to make it more effective and perfect to function. Furthermore, the methods that can be used are by installing the screw on the based part of the linear positioning table for drillingmachine. For this linear positioning table easy to use, the scale reading will be design on it so that operator will easily mark the desired measurement to be drill. A simple and safe design is proposed to optimize and analyze this project which is expected to function efficiently. In conclusion, this linear positioning table will be able to ease the operator work which the operator only needs to clamp once for the entire drilling process.

The importance of drilling is increase by time because of the modern world and the used of high speed product in our life. Drilling operation also used in electronic industries. One of the examples is to produce a hole on a circuit board. Even as tiny as a ants, it also need to use drilling operation. That show us how important is drilling operation. The main objective of research paper is to reduce vibration of frame structure of PCB drillingmachine. By applying propose material selection for structure and optimize dimension of structure from data of present PCB drillingmachine and change geometry and material of structure.
The base of the drillingmachine supports the entire machine and when bolted to the floor, provides for vibration-free operation and best machining accuracy. The top of the base is similar to a worktable and maybe equipped with T-slots for mounting work too large for the table.
