Background of the study: Dysmenorrhea is a cramp like, dull, throbbing pain in the lower abdomen, occurs just before or during menustration. Dysmenorrhea is associated with prolonged and heavier than normal menstrual flow, low body weight, body mass index, inadequate physical exercise, genetic predisposition, active and passive cigarette smoking, low socioeconomic status, diet, stress and mental illness. Studies around world had showed that a range between 20% to 90% womens suffers from dysmenorrhea. [1] Objectives: assess the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on home remedies of dysmenorrhea and find association between demographic variables with pretest knowledge scores. Material and methods: pre- experimental, single group without control group design was selected to conduct the study. 50 samples were selected by simple random technique at sri devaraj Urs College of nursing. Data was collected using structured knowledge questionnaire, after collecting data planned teaching on home remedies of dysmenorrhea was conducted and post test was done after 15 days of pretest. Results: in pretest all 50(100%) had inadequate knowledge on home remedies of dysmenorrhea. In post test, majority 29(58%) had moderate knowledge, 11(22%) had adequate knowledge. Paired‘t’ test value (10.30) showed that there was significant change in knowledge level after planned teaching programme and there was no association between knowledge and selected demographic variables. Conclusion: Providing health talk programmes is an ideal method to bring about awareness regarding the home redemies on dysmenorrhea which further can help adolescent girls to improve their reproductive health.

The correlation ‘r’ between pre test knowledge and practice was - 0.159 with p value 0.361. It signifies minimal negative correlation. The post test correlation ‘r’ between post test knowledge and practice was 0.68 with p value 0.000. It signifies positive correlation exists between post test knowledge and practice with regard to post test correlation. The study had positive correlation 0.79 between knowledge and attitude. The effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding prevention of urinary tract infection. In that the aspect of general information, causes, signs and symptoms of urinary tract infection and treatment shows high statistical significant difference in pre and post test with ‘t’ value 16.07 at P<0.001 level of significance. It could be interpreted that the planned teaching knowledge programme enhances the knowledge level of the mothers. The effectiveness of planned teaching programme on practice regarding perineal care among mothers of children with urinary tract infection. In that aspect of perineal care shows high statistical difference in pre and post test with value of 19.89 at p<0.001 level of significance. It could be interpreted that the planned teaching program may enhance the practice level of the mothers.

This affects 1 in 15 women worldwide, is a major economic health burden that is likely to expand together with obesity. Shows sign and symptoms like excessive facial or body hair, infrequent periods and infertility after marriage. [2] Early recognition and prompt treatment of pcos in adolescents is important to prevent long term sequel. More research is necessary in order to find answer too many clinical and the theoretical aspects of the syndrome. [10] Methodology: one group pretest posttest research design was used for the study. Results: It was found that there is no significant association between the type of family, religion, diet pattern, monthly income, and information source about pcos. It was found that planned teaching programme related to PCOS is effective to increase the knowledge of adolescent girls. Conclusion: The findings indicated that favorable attitude can be seen in the adolescent girls to avoid & prompt treatment of PCOS.

The purpose and duration of the study was explained to the mothers in rural areas and their informed oral consent were obtained. The study was carried out for a period of 4 weeks from 02.01.2015 to 31.01.2015 . The sample was collected by non probability convenient sampling with reference to the selected criteria. The questionnaire was distributed to assess the knowledge and practices on essential newborn care. After pre-test planned teaching programme was given through power point presentation . The teaching took about 40-45 minutes for group teaching. The mothers were encouraged to clarify their doubts, post test was conducted on the 14 th day to assess the effectiveness of teaching in improving the knowledge and practices regarding essential newborn care by using the same questionnaire. Data collected from 3-4 mothers per day, It took 15-20 minutes to gain information for each sample.

The objective of the study was to assess the knowledge on prevention of water borne disease The study adopted quasi experimental, one group pre-test post-test design. 60 children studying at Sri Venkatramana Hr. Primary School, Kulai, Mangalore were chosen by stratified random sampling technique. Structured knowledge questionnaire 34 questions consisted of two parts ledge questionnaire on waterborne diseases was used to collect data.Each item had a score of one for the best answer and zero for the wrong answer. Thus altogether 55% were at the age of 12 years.93.3% of the participants belong to Hindu religion. 46.7% of participant’s mother are daily wage earners and 33.3% father do private job. Results: Percentage of women having adequate knowledge increased from 0% to 63.34% after giving planned teaching program. Whereas 18.33% population reported inadequate Knowledge Post test and 18.33% population have moderate knowledge post test. Post test knowledge score improved 38.46% after planned teaching program. T-ratio was statistically significant as the obtained value (32.11) is higher than the tabulated value (2.00) required for t-ratio to be significant at .05 level of confidence. Maximum of the participants got benefitted from the planned teaching programme on changing their attitude towards prevention of cervical cancer. There was a significant difference between pre test and post test knowledge and attitude regarding prevention of cervical cancer and between post test knowledge and post test attitude regarding prevention of cervical cancer among women of reproductive age group. Thus hypothesis 1 & 2 were accepted. Chi-square values of post test knowledge score with demographic variables were age 11.09 which was significant whereas chi- square values with other variables like educational qualification (4.2); occupation (1.4); income group (3.1); marital status (0.9) and number of children (7.3) were not significant. This indicates that H3 is partially accepted with age only. Chi-square values of post test attitude score with demographic variables age (4.86) educational qualification (6.3); occupation (4.6); income group (1.5); marital status (1.7) and number of children (4.4) were not significant. This indicates that H4 is rejected and null hypothesis is accepted.

Abstract: Background of the study: The term arthritis literally means ‗inflammation of a joint‘ but arthritis is actually a collection of more than 100 distinct, conditions. The cause of arthritis is unknown, but it may result from a combination of environmental, demographic, infections, genetic factors, Socioeconomic, psychological, and lifestyle factors. 1 Aim: To find out the effectiveness of planned teaching program in improving knowledge of geriatrics population in regards to management of arthritis. Methodology: The experimental study was conducted using pre-experimental research design (one group pre-test post-test design) at community of Gurugram. The conceptual framework use in the study was General System theory. The total sample size for the study was 60 geriatric populations. Written a consent has obtained from the samples. Purposive sample technique has used and data collection by structured knowledge questionnaire. Results: The study data reveals that the mean ± SD post- test knowledge score (15.82±1.909) of geriatric regarding management of arthritis is higher than the mean pre-test knowledge score (5.38 ±1.728). It shows that planned teaching program was effective in increasing knowledge regarding management of arthritis. The data also revealed that there is statistically significant relationship between knowledge score regarding management of arthritis and age, religion, educational status among geriatric population in a selected community of Gurugram. Conclusion: The planned teaching program was found to be effective in increasing the knowledge among geriatric population regarding arthritis.
